- We collect only what's needed to track your golf rounds: your sign-in details, your rounds, and the GPS positions of shots you choose to record.
- We don't sell your data, show ads, or use third-party analytics or tracking.
- You can delete your account and all of your rounds at any time, right from the app.
Who we are
Wood to Wedge (the website at woodtowedge.com and the Wood to Wedge iPhone app) is an independent golf shot-tracking app. Questions about this policy can be sent to [email protected].
Information we collect
Account information. You sign in with Google or Apple. We receive your name, email address, and (from Google) your profile photo. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email," we receive a private relay address instead of your real email. We never see your Google or Apple password.
Your golf data. Rounds you save, including course and tee, scores and other per-hole stats, notes you write, and the shots you track (club, distance, date and time, and the start and end GPS coordinates of each shot). We also store your bag (the clubs you carry), your plan (free or premium), and the date you last used the app.
Location. The app uses your device's location only while you're using it, to measure shot distances and yardage to the green and to show your position on the map. Location is saved only as part of a shot you choose to record, or a green location you choose to set. We do not track your location in the background.
Course information. Courses, tees, pars, and green locations are shared between all Wood to Wedge users so everyone can play the same courses. If you add or edit a course, tee, or green location, that information (but not your name) is visible to other users.
How we use your information
- To sign you in and keep your rounds synced between your devices.
- To calculate and show your scores, statistics, club distances, and handicap estimate.
- To provide AI club analysis when you request it (see below).
- To provide support and keep the service working, which may involve the app's operator viewing your account and round data.
We don't use your data for advertising, and we don't sell or rent it to anyone.
AI club analysis
When you request an AI club analysis, we send summarized club statistics (club names, number of shots, distance averages and ranges, which clubs are in your bag, and the number and date range of rounds) to Anthropic's Claude AI service to generate the analysis. Your name, email, and GPS locations are not included. This happens only when you ask for an analysis.
Services we use
Wood to Wedge relies on a few service providers to run. They process data on our behalf to provide their service:
- Google Firebase: sign-in, database storage of your account and rounds, and website hosting.
- Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple: signing you in.
- Anthropic: AI club analysis, only when you request it.
- Maps: Google Maps on the website and Apple Maps in the iPhone app display satellite imagery of the course you're viewing.
- Expo: delivers updates to the iPhone app. Like any download service, it receives basic technical information such as your device type and IP address.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored in Google Firebase and transmitted over encrypted connections. Security rules ensure that only you (and the app's operator, for support) can read your rounds and account information. Rounds you haven't synced yet are stored only on your device until you sync them.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account and rounds for as long as you have an account. You can delete individual unsynced rounds in the app at any time.
To delete your account and all of your rounds, open the Wood to Wedge iPhone app, tap your name in the top right corner, and choose Delete Account. This immediately and permanently deletes your rounds, profile, and sign-in. You can also email [email protected] from the address you sign in with, and we'll delete it for you. Course, tee, and green information you contributed stays available to other users, but it isn't linked to you.
Children
Wood to Wedge is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
